I've always flown for fun. Checking my crops, etc.

I by accident have gotten a larger company wanting me to measure pole height necessity for viewing from the interstate.

It's always seemed accurate enough for MY needs, but how accurate are they truly at 100' to 200' feet? 5 or 10 foot discrepancy isn't major, but more than that could be.

Thoughts? I've never actually figured out how to easily check it's accuracy....

Mavic uses an internal barometer that measures pressure changes. From my usage it has been very accurate. Fly multiple times during multiple conditions and measure. Then take those measurements and average the height.

For instance. 5 flights divided by 5.

You can also find a known height of an object and fly up next to it and then look at your display to determine its accuracy. Even get a 2 x 4 . Measure it with a tape measure and then prop it up vertically. Fly up next to it and read your display.

It should work for your purpose. While horizontal accuracy is only +/-3meters the vertical accuracy is +/-0.5meters so if you tell them +/- 5 feet then you’ll have under promised the accuracy. This is because both GPS and barometer height is used.

Errr....you already asked this here...

The height displayed in the app comes 100% from the barometer and zero from GPS.

I wish I knew my MP Platinum was that accurate in measuring height from the ground. I've "eyeballed" the height off the ground of my drone at a distance and determined very quickly that I would never try to fly this drone below 10 feet if I could not see it. I don't want to fly it into the ground and I don't want to have to rely on the camera to tell me how close I am. Probably rookie overkill but the differences I've seen in the altitude shown on the screen and what I've watched looking at the drone have been too large to engender any trust.
