Hey bud. You are giving the controller power button a short press, then a 2nd longer press eh?

Yes I do that and then 4 led come on for about 5 seconds and then turn off ,I have had it working before then it stopped so I charged it up again and it has not worked since

For linking the controller to the Mavic Air, try linking again.

I'd use the second method linking the controller without a device, instead of the DJI Go4 app

Where are you located? Any DJI authorised store nearby? Another option I think would be to find the nearest Apple store. They sell them, so maybe they might be able to help if you bring your MA to them and ask them to help you set it up.

You might have inadvertently damaged the micro usb-A port in the side of the controller, the usb plug can only go in one way due to a internal tab, if you try and force it you can break the internal tab in the port which means you won't be able to charge the controller.

DJI made a mistake by using the rectangular shaped micro usb-A port instead of the more universally used micro-B usb port which has it's corners cut off thereby allowing micro usb plug to only fit in one way.

The fact the controller lights come on and then go off seem to suggest that there is no charge in the battery. Check your usb port to see if the internal tab is damaged.

When you insert the plug you will see the hole orientation towards the bottom half the plug you will need to make sure this lines up with the internal tab in the port on the side of the controller, as this is also orientated to one side of the plug hole

thank you every body for the replies . The controller seems ok now and most of the other problems probably caused by a disagreement between me and the smartass phone .I dont usually use a smart phone as I prefer a phone that phones .will try a test flight tomorrow
