How to do active tracking for more than 300 feet?

So got my new Mavic Air yesterday and tried to do active tracking myself walking down a hiking trail.
I turned the mode on using just my iPhone as the controller.

The drone tracked me, but when I reached 324 (approx) feet from the homepoint, the drone stopped and would go no further because I had reached the "maximum flight distance" when using just the phone as a controller.

The phone was actually just 20 feet away from the drone.

Any way to control the drone using just the phone, and do an active tracking video for more than 300 feet?

Why not just update the home point to be the Controller?

That video was interesting. But all it allows you to do is to reset the home point.
I wouldn't want to stop every 300 feet on a bike ride, for example, to reset the home point so the drone can go 300 more feet.

Any way to turn off "Maximum Flight Distance" entirely when using a phone as a controller? Or any way to make the home point continuously follow the controller, instead of just resetting the home point to the controller's current position?

Yes! Use The Follow Me Intelligent Flight Mode and use a phone and not a tablet. You could use a tablet , but the tablet needs to have built in Cellular Connectivity. The Follow Me mode uses the embedded GPS to follow the device.

That sounds like exactly what I need, but I believe the Mavic Air doesn’t have follow me mode, only visual-based active tracking?

Can't go farther with the phone. You will have to use the controller. Seems stupid but that's the way it is set up.
