My first near crash after a really beautiful flight. I could not see this wire in my 8" tablet even a little...or soon enough. I was sure I had all sorts of room...
How I was able to pull up without any damage after this is really feeling like a miracle! I see a 10" tablet in my very near future,

Lucky you. Looks like you caught the wire square on the drone body. Would likely have been a different story had it just caught a prop.

This is why I never trust what I can see (not see?) on my display and always fly with a spotter.

Worse is I was only 10' away. I even knew the wire was there but the setting sun obscured it at my angle during the fight. A spotter yelling at me not to hit the wire definitely would have been helpful!

I was filming around my church, where at one point I was near a wire from power pole to parking lot light.
I thought I had the wire behind the AC, but when I raised the AC altitude, the wire came to view meaning the wire was in front.

I'm staring at them VLOS and it still looked like I was on the other side of the wire than I really was.

This is why I say VLOS isn't always the safest. Third person view can be quite descriptive.

Depth perception can be very tricky at times. I also find it easy to lose the orientation of the drone when looking at it in the distance. Understanding the Direction/Attitude indicator, or the Map window can help there.

Spotter(s), always helpful.
