I too bought mavic air for it's compactness. I recently took it with me in my trek bag to kingdom of Bhutan. It really didn't occupy much space. Secondly I was on a solo motorcycle trip from India to Bhutan. I also had couple of minor crashes with my bike where I landed on bag with the Drone in it. No damage to the Drone during those Falls. I rolled some t shirts over the Drone case. I kept the remote, charger & batteries in the Dji bag which also was tucked inside my bag pack. I used it as side bag.

I upgraded from the GoPro Karma. I actually liked the Karma, But a major downside was the size and weight. One Karma battery weighs slightly more than the Mavic Air with battery. I carried 3! The Karma backpack was its own carry-on. When doing any type of distance hike, I basically needed to hire a Sherpa.
