Hey guys I have been wanting to do a long exposure for a while with the Mavic but just hadn't come across the right situation until last night.

I this is an 8 second exposure and I am really impressed how well it came out and how still the gimbal had to be for this to come out. 74715

Impressive, nice shot. 8 seconds is a long shot.

Just shows, that sometimes it’s worth trying some of these settings out. It’s not like we have to pay for developing the pics like in the old days.

Love the motion blur.
Something I always notice when I’m in the States, is how flat some of your cities are. We are all built on hills, mountains and sand dunes here. We don’t seem to have settled on our flat areas

Great effect with the vehicle lights. It is ridiculous that you can get 8 seconds, .5s even demonstrates how well the gimbkes perform.

It’s not fantastic though, there is still visible camera shake.

An easy workaround is to take multiple consecutive shots then stack and blend.

Thanks! I’m gonna put it through some shake suppressor and see if I can get that down a little.

That was my original plan actually. I was gonna do a panorama where the left most panel would be the “sudo” long-exposure and just normal exposures for the rest of it but I couldn’t get all the streaks to line up and it looked awful.

I’ve got several shots from last night with a 6sec, 4 sec, and 2sec that I haven’t even really looked at yet so maybe I’ll be able to find one that’s the best “Goldilocks” shutter length. This is the longest one though

Interesting take, must have spent a lot of time in Florida. Pittsburgh now, that would be something altogether different.

Thank you!

I rarely think of Salt Lake City as flat with all the tall mountains and foothills around, however, this shot is over the Salt Lake Valley and you can almost make out the Great Salt Lake in the background which is one of the flattest places in earth.

In fact the Salt Flats around the Salt Lake are so flat and vast they race cars on it and is where you go to try to break the land speed record since you’ll never run out of “road” and never drive off the “track.”
