M4P Gimbal Damper Bracket Replacement. Tricks to re-insert rubber dampers?

I have to replace my Damper bracket because one of the arms broke with a minor-ish crash (JangYao Damper Bracket).

I have the new bracket attached to the Camera, but I am having trouble inserting the rubber mounts; I've been using the tools in the pic. What are some tricks and/or other tools to get these things in?
