I went to use my ND filters for the first time and noticed 2 things:
1. I'm missing an ND filter! DJI sent me a replacement so no issue there.
2. There's no glass in the ring. Is there supposed to be one?20200826_141601.jpg

No, you're good.

There's no glass in the stock frame that comes mounted on the drone.

Funny, mine has a clear lens cover mounted to the lens.
I think you'll find that when you remove the grey outer trim frame/ring to install ND filters, that the OEM frame/ring does not have a lens. The piece of protective glass is actually attached to and remains with the camera.

Anyone know why and if we are not using filters does the no glass frame need to be attached

Technically no, but the frame plugs up the mounting holes on the gimbal so it probably keeps dust and dirt from going inside.
