I am trying to use waypoints for matching daytime to nighttime effect, using start record and they don't match up very well, am I missing something? I used a DVE in the editor to line them up best I could. Note the JC Penny fade from night to day. THANKS

That video is 120M. All I get is a perpetual hourglass.

Can you downsize it to something more easily consumable, just so we can see the bad fade?

Yeah, still a perpetual hour glass. I let it churn for several minutes. You might try posting a downsampled version to youtube and posting a link.

But to your main issue, GPS accuracy isn't so exacting. I think it's something like plus/minus 3m, which could be a lot for what you're trying to do.

The amount of misalignment is quite big as indicated by the circled parts below. At this point the drone is closer to the building in the day-time clip than that in the night-time clip. Adjusting the relative time of the two clips should help.

On top of that, you probably will need to do appropriate transformation which is basically stretching or squeezing the pictures in various directions. It appears that you have just done a simple horizontal shift which is not sufficient. If you can provide the two clips, may be I can give it a try.

That worked.

With my previous GPS accuracy comment aside (but note that 3m is actually quite a bit), the JC Penny part looks like more of a timing issue (as boblui mentioned above) rather than positional.

So if it was synced at one part, then got out of sync, then you're talking about aircraft speed not being 100% the same throughout the entire sequence of both clips. And that's probably not fixable within a waypoint mission, because it's my guess that it wasn't designed to be that accurate. That is, the speed of each mission could differ due to a lot of factors.

If I were doing this, I would a) do several takes of each mission (several daytime, several nighttime) to see if one take syncs up better than the others; and b) look into time-warp adjustments in your video editor, if it has it (I don't know if it does, but I would go looking for one, even going up the video editor's own forum to ask for one, if they have one).

But overall, I think the effect looks cool.

Chris

PS: the hourglass issue could have been at my end, if another user could view it. but thanks for the youtube link.
