hi, i'm using the following
  • Date: 2022.03.23
  • Aircraft Firmware: v01.00.0600
  • Remote Controller: v04.13.0600
  • DJI Fly App iOS: v1.5.10

aeb - 5 shots
regular lens (24mm), not explore (zoom) lens
camera pro mode, auto iso, manual shutter (1/2) and f/stop (f/8) , average metering
initial iso set to 100

photoshop shows that shutter speed and f/stop were constant as expected but iso settings were
1 - 100
2 - 100
3 - 160
4 - 100
5 - 250

the manual says

Automatic Exposure Bracketing (AEB): 20 MP, 3/5 Frames at 0.7EV Step

but it doesn't say the order, such as normal, under expose then over expose (or vice versa)

does anyone know the order...

the iso settings don't look right with the repeated 100's...has anyone seen something similar...

thanks

It’s probably

0 EV
-0.7 EV
+0.7 EV
-1.4 EV
+1.4 EV

This is my guess: Since you set it to manual shutter and aperture but left auto iso on, it’s trying to use ISO to do the brackets. Your 0 EV (normal) is at ISO 100 so when it tries to underexpose using ISO it can’t since ISO 100 is already as low as it goes so thats why your 1st, 2nd, and 4th shots are all at 100 ISO. Do the 1st, 2nd, and 4th shots all look the same?

For brackets you typically want to use shutter speed to vary the exposures. I would try it with aperture and ISO set manually and shutter speed set to auto. This typically gives you the best result.

yes, the exposures with the same iso look the same

ah yes, 100 is already the lowest...didn't think of that :)

yes, usually varies the shutter speed but i was afraid the shutter speed may get too slow (eg, in low light)

i'll experiment some more...

thanks

You are going to want to set a manual ISO even if it has to be higher than 100. Up to a 400 ISO should produce a decent picture. Use a manual Aperture to adjust for available light and an auto Shutter to let the drone make the final changes to keep your photos looking similar.

I did a EV of -1.0 to start. This is my OFFSET.

This is what I get and is this normal?

-1
-1.7
-0.3
-2.3
+0.3

I did a few of the Offset and it seems like DJI last stop is only at 0.5 steps, the middle one is roughly at 1.0 increment.

Why are they not as whole numbers on the stop?

Check your arithmetic again.
What you got (after adjusting for your Exposure compensation) was:
-1 = EV0
-1.7 =EV-0.7
-0.3 =EV+0.7
-2.3 =EV-1.3
+0.3 =EV+1.3
That's steps of EV+/- 0.7, which is what you should be getting

Because that's all DJI offer.

Shouldn't the last two actually have been:
-2.4 = EV -1.4
+0.4 = EV +1.4
His last two exposure values are off.

1.3/1.4 are the same thing with the difference in the rounding.
DJI express it as +/-1.3 stops .. that's how it would show on screen

I am lost. I don't see the pattern.

Yesterday evening it's my first time doing 5 AEB and at EV 0, I could not get the roundness of the sunset sun. Will play with Offset.

Simple version:
First shot is per the settings on the camera.
Second is slightly dimmer.
Third is slightly brighter.
Fourth is even dimmer.
Fifth is even brighter.

Use the EV bias only if you're in full auto mode. In manual mode, adjust shutter speed and aperture to get the appropriate beginning exposure.
