A few days ago, when I tried to fly my Mavic Air 2, I suddenly got the error message: “Gimbal Unable To Connect (code 40012) - Service Required.” About a year ago, I crashed this drone into some tree branches, and it was also dropped on the floor while inside a hard case, but it’s worked fine ever since — until now, it seems the damage may have finally caught up with me.
I removed the gimbal, checked it over, and reseated the cables, but that didn’t help. Calibration won’t run either — tapping the button does nothing. I read that some people had luck replacing the ribbon cable (mostly for the Mini), so I tried replacing mine too, but that didn’t fix it either.
I eventually ended up tearing it apart to inspect the IMU as well. I don’t see anything obviously wrong with it, but I’m assuming this part isn’t really fixable. Is it worth taking a closer look, tapping it a few times, or should I just plan to order a replacement?
