This post is in reference to a potential gimbal wheel issue causing the drones to fly sideways. This past March I noticed an issue with my mavic air where the drone would fly left or right when I'm adjusting the gimbal pitch. I tried calibrating the controller and noticed that when I moved the gimbal wheel it would show left and right movement on the right hand joystick. I even went as far as reinstalling the firmware but to know avail. I know a lot of people have had issues with this and ultimately either just live with it send it back or replace it with a different controller. So I took my controller apart to investigate a bit. Nothing looked out of sorts in any way. So what I did was I unplugged both joysticks and a gimbal wheel from the circuit board to inspect the wires as well as the plugs and didn't see anything wrong. I just decided to put the controller back together and try it and see if anything is better. As I power the controller up and connect it to my phone, I was able to calibrate both joysticks without interference from the gimbal wheel which also calibrated just fine. I took my mavic air out for a flight this morning and the gimbal issue that was causing right and left movement is now gone. So I have to believe that there was some kind of connectivity issue between the plugs and the circuit board. Once I pressed them together tight it must have corrected the issue. I recommend anyone having this issue to try this. I hope this helps anybody that's having this issue.
