So I recently had a long conversation while playing warframe on ps4 in a party with many friends, and we all own mavic except one which owns a mavic two. The topic started by one friend was the new Mavic Enterprise Dual and how crazy powerful it is and he didn't mean just engine power. It has a thermal camera which can see body heat. Is this really just going to be a drone anyone can buy? I mean could you imagine the level of privacy invasion this new thermal tech could bring dumb pilots?

I mean I love the idea for professional and responsible use, but we already have so many idiots with drones, now are those exact idiots going to be able to upgrade to thermal? I mean could you imagine the complaints? I myself am in love with the enterprise and want one for survival, professional and recreational purposes, but I myself A. don't fly over others property or around it, don't fly irresponsibly and am a crazy good and responsible pilot.

I am just wondering if anyone else agrees with what my friends are saying, that this new Mavic Enterprise Dual will be like giving idiot pilots with a 9 mil a shinny new 50 cal. lol. Does anyone else think this could be as dangerous as it could be a beautiful thing?

Yes, anyone can buy the M2ED. But not as usual online, put into shopping cart, pay and you are good to go. You have to buy it from a certified DJI Enterprise dealer, call them, get a quote and so forth. But finally you'll get the desired object.

Not as much as with 'regular' drones. The thermal sensor of the M2ED is only 160x120. Every 'normal' DJI camera has much more resolution to 'invade your privacy' as you are sayin'.
It's highly unlikely that someone can be identified (face recognition) with the M2ED capturing thermal images from a drone flying at, let's say, 100ft or higher.

No, because everything you mention has a price - compared to DJI drones, a new M2P is $1.5K and a M2ED is $3K. Not everyone can afford the M2ED or a Matrice carrying a decent thermal cam. (we are talking about $20k onwards here)
