Definitely happens! Glad your drone is OK. Here’s one bird encounter I had. I should have aborted my flight sooner. Bird got within inches in the last of several close passes at my drone.

Guys, by the looks of it, even birds don't like competition...

During my last visit to the beach, I decided to fly my Mavic Mini, I took off from the rocks and entered to the sea, as soon as the MM started to fly, 3 seagulls appeared and attacked directly as you will see in the attached movie. Fortunately I flew backwards, other way my MM would be in the ocean.
