what do you think of the reach of the mavic mini? In a word I would say miserable. I was already satisfied with a perfect LOS reaching at least 1000m between 100 and 200m in height. I know very well how it works antennas omni 2.4ghz / 5ghz. I was suspicious before buying when watching antennas of that size ... but when watching videos on youtube with tests to reach heights of 2000m and distances of 5000m, I thought, no way, this is ********, at least 1000m must give, maybe it has some technology different, more transmission power, but after all, it really sucks ... I read somewhere in USA you can have more transmit power, but even with the double the power its impossible using wifi with that little antennas reaching those distances. Still think the drone is very good for the price and size.

MM is my first drone, and I viewed it as a learning tool to how everything works. I have't flown beyond VLOS because at this point I'm not comfortable with that thought. Last week I received my MA2 and I must admit I would feel more confident about flying farther away. But will I? Time will tell, but I know at this point VLOS suits me well.
I've found in my short ownership of one that the operable range exceeds what I can see, but I have also flown into some areas where the signal just dies. (One particular farm building seems to interfere badly).
In S mode you seem to get more distance (but less time) out of the battery and get to the limit of visual range in under a minute. I don't think youtube videos where it's still going away from home when it hits 50% battery are faked but I don't know how they get such reception either.
