Looking at the PolarPro and Freewell ND filter offerings for the A3s, (price and overall quality aside), noticed their offerings are for split ND filters both have a different strategy in the amount of split for the 2 cameras.
With the 2 cameras having 2 different apertures, (1.8 and 2.8), I like the idea of the split ND filter to help balance out the exposure when switching back and forth during a shoot. In my limited understanding of the numbers, maths, etc, at these apertures there are no exact ND exchanges for exact same exposure for both cameras, and these splits are what are available...

Freewells splits are; ND8/16, ND16/32, ND32/64, ND64/128.

PolarPro splits are; ND4/8, ND8/32, ND32/128.

Am I right in seeing the PolarPro strategy might be a little closer to optimum on the conservative side vs Freewell? Or am I trying to split hairs too close on a camera system that's not that optimized to get that far into the weeds begin with?

The ND filters that come with the Air 3S fly more combo are also split filters.
Thank you for pointing that out. Opened mine when it arrived last week, saw only the single ND call out across the bottom of each filter, hadn't opened the accessory guide, glanced through them at a light source and didn't immediately notice any difference/split so just assumed they were not split.
Now read the accessory guide and looked through them again with a more discerning eye and yes, there is a noticeable slight difference in the split.
Thank you.

You’re welcome! Randomly skimming through the “Accessories Guide” booklet is exactly how I also found out. I have not seen it pointed out anywhere whatsoever, which is a shame because I imagine many people buying Freewell split ND filters when they already have DJI split ND filters at home.

It is interesting that the FW and DJI kits do not cover the same ND values I wonder if what is missing from either one of them will cause much of an issue. Will the gap between the values available on on versus the other matter or is there enough latitude to compensate.

I wish FW has the 4/8 and with DJI had the 8/16. Which one is the most likely to be missed?

It was unfortunate they reduced the filters to a set of 3. The Air 3 ND filters from DJI were a set of 4. But they weren’t split filters like the 3S filters as far as I’m aware and they didn’t come with the combo, so you had to purchase it. So like most people, I bought the Freewell set for my Air 3. They should have at least put an 8/16 instead of the 4/8 in my opinion.
