Had a very near miss with my Mavic today. Had been flying all day without a problem and was getting one last shot of the sun set when I switched the drone into cinematic mode (in flight) and then all hell broke loose! The Mavic Started doing circles and getting lower and lower before clipping the ground. Just about Managed to switch out of cinematic mode and recover just in time no damage but was very lucky it was over land and not water. This is my first post and don't know what I did wrong? Any help would be gratefully appreciated.

And per comedy legend George Carlin, you had a near-hit. Nearly missing something means you actually had a collision.

Hard to tell what went wrong. Only a switch to cinematic? I suggest before reinstalling the firmware to test on wide open field to see if you can recreate the situation. Than you can eliminate or focus on that change to cinematic (or something else).

Keep us informed.

Happy Flying
