Interesting. I stayed a month in Samui (on Lamai, neighbour to Chaweng) in 1985.
This video shows a totally different planet, it looks like Central New York compared to the quiet, peaceful island I visited.
There was no airport, the only way to get there was with boat from Surat Thani, no large hotels, only small primitive bungalows at the beach. Amazing how it has changed in 40 years, I feel old
