I'm getting the info that the Moto Z is incompatible because it isn't fast enough with enough memory but it has more of both than other older phones listed on here as currently being used with that drone. What's the real story on compatibility? remember to be honest.

Why do you think honesty is an issue? Haha.

Anyways, DJI clearly publishes lists of guaranteed compatible devices on the specifications page of each drone on their website - if you are not using one of those, you roll the dice. Updates to the app may also change compatibility as time goes on. If you want an 'official' answer, that is it.

That being said, spec-wise your phone should have no problem running the App (SD820 & 4GB RAM).

Do you have anything running on your phone hogging resources? An app like DevCheck can help.

I don't think so but I can do a factory restore to be sure but the app DJI Pro 4) won't install.

When I attach the controller to the phone it doesn't move on past that spot, step 3. No "next" button is displayed. It seems to not be acknowledging the phone but..... the official reason doesn't hold water. Older Motorolla androids with less memory and slower processors are currently being used successfully according to others posts. If it's not "optimum" that's one thing but the app won't even acknowledge it. I see others have been able to install pro 4 to their phones. Hoping to get around this before I return the drone and get my money back. I'm not buying a new phone to fly a drone. Frustrated.

Interesting.

You could factory reset your phone, but that is more of a last resort unless you don't mind. That would also kill any processes you may not be aware of that are taking up resources. Odd that the app won't install when slower phones than yours are listed on DJI's compatibility list.

Different drones are more taxing on the device, for example if they provide 1080P live feed (like the Mavic 2 Pro does) or not - that could be one reason why it works for others, but doesn't explain why you can't even install it. The GO 4 app is a huge app with lots of bloat and needs a lot to run.

If/when you do get it up and running, you also will probably want to enable USB debugging in your phone as that often resolves issues surrounding the USB connection.

WoW. Thanks. Please tell me how to enable the debugging on my phone. I did actualy get it to work. Went to the Verizon store in Rapid City SD to see which phones would work and get a new one but it started working right there in the store. Interesting that the menues and the whole App appearance changed from when I was home trying. FYI: I have very fast internet here at the house. This is really weird. Wonder if they changed the app that fast after I posted on all their sites. But, when I got home it kept saying GPS wasnt on. I'm trying to disable the GPS so I can play with it in the house before I go outside and crash it. lol. I can see where the posts about consistent performance of the app came from. Its never the same twice and I have to reconnect to the drone every time. Hope they can hire someone who knows what they are doing to fix or redo this app. The drone is great. The app is trash.
