Tips? Here are tips from a guy flying just since June (but really milked this forum for information and guidance)...
1) Take your time to learn to fly. Get out in an open field at first and keep the Mini WELL in sight. Take your time before you send it out yonder until it's a speck... or no longer visible to the naked eye.
2) Practice flying with the Mini facing toward you and away from you, going toward you and away from you. I would recommend getting one or more strobes to help you keep sight of your Mini. YMMV on that one.
2) Learn the "rules' that apply to UAV's. Protect the reputation of the community as well as your own (as well as knowing what is within the law). Be respectful of other when you fly. The Mini is a compact drone but NOT A TOY.
3) Be aware of wind and flying conditions. Download the app UAV Forecast so know the wind and weather conditions. At some point you will want to download one or more apps like AIRMAP and/or KITTYHAWK [that's a few days away until you learn to actually fly the drone at low levels in open space.
4) Practice as much as possible.
5) Hang out here in the various forum categories. SO much combined knowledge with a lot of folks willing to share.
Good luck.
