Talking to a random bloke whilst queuing at halfords today.
Turned out he was a drone pilot having a few mavic drones
He said the title of this post would override my issue and loads of other things.
To be honest most of it went right over my head
But the gist of it was buy this thing
Plud into your drone and Bob's your uncle.
Costs about £30
Had a quick look but it all foreign lol.
Who's heard of it or is using it

Cheers Mel

its a system to cancel the restrictions for height, distance and geofencing that restricts where you can fly ,personally i would not touch it with a barge pole
but hey each to their own good luck

If/when I get a drone that works.
Living on the doorstep of East Midlands Airport. I'm assuming my drone won't take off within 5km of airport.
There's a very impressive historic building literally half a mile away obviously within the 5km that I would love to look at with the aid of the drone.
If I'm correct this system would allow me to do so.
Would I be breaking the law.
Cheers Mel

If you had followed the law & registered with the CAA, including conducting their exam, you would know the answer to your question!

I'll register with the caa when I have a functional drone.
Thank you for your concern
Please keep on going though my posts and having a dig.
Or even better don't
Cheers Mel

I’m not “having a dig”, I’ve been trying to help / advise a fellow UK based drone flyer.
anyway, why not take the exam now, while you’re waiting - it’ll be one less thing to think about when you do get sorted out (and I think I expressed my sympathy in another thread), and you’ll learn what you can & can’t do in UK airspace.

I've got NLD loaded on a few of my drones, it does what it says, I also know a few of the people involved so can be trusted. I also fly within the rules, I just dont like my aircraft performing any unexpected actions as deemed so by a foreign country since I'm the actual operator of the drone, not DJI. As to whether or not NLD will get MA2 support time will tell, DJI is putting in much greater effort into preventing jailbreaks even hiring companies that pay the hackers "bug bounties" to cash in their exploit discoveries for cold hard cash, so a NFZ removal hack may never come.

As you can see from the "Bird Map" no hacks for the Air/Mini were ever released so its entirely likely this bird will also remain unhacked. Mavic 2 only on earlier versions of firmware is where they last left off. Firmware anti-rollback also ensures once a drone is updated, NLD is no longer effective.

Am I the only one who thinks the exam is a bit pointless?
Before you start it they actually tell you its ok to refer to the code during the test.
I did it and passed but thought the entire process was a bit pointless due to this.

You’re probably right but, if your challenged by anyone in authority for flying ‘illegally’, you’d have little excuse for not knowing you were breaking UK flying rules.

I think its far too friendly.
I think you need 16/20 to pass, so you could get 4 of the really important ones wrong (distances to people/buildings/public gatherings etc) and still pass.
Considering you could cause serious harm to people with a drone I just thought it was very lenient.

Saying that you don't need to pass a test to ride a bike on the road, yet you could easily kill someone if you were riding recklessly, so maybe its just me being harsh.

I haven't got a technical bone in my body.
When the guy told me about it I just thought it was some form of upgrade that a lot of people do.
The fact of it's legality didn't cross my mind
Thought I'd ask on here about it which I did.
Knowing what i no now I will leave well alone

I looked at the exam before I ordered my drone and thought the same as you
You might as well just fill a form out stating you've read it and register it.
But it's not up to us.
Is it?
Cheers Mel

We good now?

Sure are. Just a slight bump in the long road ahead

You’re going to love this sport (once you get the bird flying), but I guarantee every time you fly your heart will be racing! Best of luck getting activation sorted out

Up until last year li flew hawk's
You train a bird then throw it in the air free flying for the first time
No sleep for a week previous
With the drone you should be in control
The bird is free to do what it wants
Luckily never had a problem activating any of the birds I had and they all did what they were supposed to.
Cheers Mel

Also, it is only for PC users... can't get it done to your drone through an Apple product.
