Obstacle avoided message when in an open space?

Today I was flying out in an open area pretty high up, it was pretty cold (around 25F), and a couple of times the Mavic popped up a message that an obstacle had been avoided, change flight course or something along those lines. Wondering if there is something I need to do to recalibrate the sensors or something? Has anyone else experienced something similar? Also my drone has been drifting slightly.

Were you flying towards the sun? Bright sunlight low in the sky can trigger the Obstacle Avoidance system.

The sun was definitely causing this with me the other day. As soon as the sun got a little higher in the sky the warnings ceased.

ah yes it was a pretty sunny day and definitely might have been flying into the sun. okay thanks for the info!

Wow! My Mavic did the same thing on my first flight. I thought I was doing something wrong. Good to hear it's a known issue.

I got it at 265 feet today just for a second, I guess it could have been the sun or a curious or furious bird. lol Also I was flying near a lake that was pretty reflective on a sunny day.

I get quite a few obstacle avoidance warnings when the sun is low in the sky. I'm thinking about turning OA off because I've read a few posts where it can cause issues with Return To Home.
