Just a heads up to look out for Santa Claus. Transport Canada today issued the following Exception for reindeer powered aeroplanes in Canadian Airspace, also allowing the use of drones for BVLOS deliveries.
Notice to CARAC members,
Santa’s Exemption In preparation for the holiday period, Transport Canada Civil Aviation has issued an exemption to Santa Claus from the requirements set out in various provisions of the Canadian Aviation Regulations (CARs). This exemption provides temporary measures in the public interest in response to travel restrictions and other impediments that air operators are encountering in the training of flight crew members following the declaration of a pandemic outbreak.
The purpose of this exemption is to allow SANTA CLAUS, NORTH POLE, H0H 0H0, CANADA to operate a reindeer powered aeroplane at supersonic speeds with no take-off weight limitations and unrestricted access to all Canadian airspace for his annual Christmas gift delivery. To help SANTA CLAUS with the delivery of presents in a way that respects physical distancing requirements, the use of drone’s beyond-visual-line-of-sight will also be authorized.

  • HOHOHO-2022 – Santa Claus reindeer powered aeroplane, unrestricted access to all Canadian airspace - Issued on December 20, 2022.
On behalf of the Transport Canada Civil Aviation team, we wish you happy Holidays and a happy and healthy New Year.
Sincerely,

Canadian Aviation Regulation Advisory Council

Salutations,

Don't think it will be a problem for Santa this year as there is NO commercial
flights flying around Canadian airspace right now. Seems everything has been grounded the last few days because of weather. LOL
Merry Christmas All!!
