Haystack Rock and Tolovana at the Oregon coast. Despite all of the rain this winter in Oregon, there have been some beautiful days at the coast. Fortunate to have taken advantage of this one!

Impressive photo, are the roads across the photo curved?
It looks like there are a load of tree trunks on the beach, if they are tree trunks do you know of a reason for their being there?

Oregon is largely forest. Particularly along the coast and throughout the Coast Range. Logs fall down. They find their way into rivers and streams. Get carried out to sea. Get deposited on the beaches. At that point they are no longer referred to as logs. They are now driftwood.

TomK gave a good explanation for the logs/driftwood on the beach. We recently had a couple of storms that came with very heavy winds and ice that contributed to the accumulation of debris on the beach.

The photo was a panorama produced from several images stitched together - that created the appearance of the roads curving. Good catch! In reality, they are straight.
