Having problem transferring video & photos to external HD. Some of the files do ok but most of them want display or play back. I get a "Can not open" message. They
do ok if I transfer them to my cpu HD but when try to put them on external drive that error pops.

How is your external drive formatted ?

Formatted with windows 10 cpu. Is there a different way?
I am certainly not an expert but it might be the formatting of your hard drive. I have a MAC, but previously have years of storage on PC. When I bought new hard drive from Costco, my computer guru helped me re-format the new hard drive to EXFat, which allows the computer to read both on PC and MAC. So the bottom line is EXFat is the format that allows compatibility between PC and MAC (windows and OS operating systems). Google this term- format pc windows 10 for Exfat and I have attached a screen grab

Hope this helps.Screen Shot 2020-04-12 at 9.51.48 AM.png

Hope it works- just go to your drive icon>right click>Format>click exFAT>click OK. like it shows in my attachment.

Well I tried to reformat in exFAT an still same thing. It will read some MP4 files then some files say it can't read. JPG files same way. Don't know if its external drive or CPU drive but CPU drive will read all files if there on CPU drive. Even tried copying files straight from drone mirco disk and it does same thing.

In my case, the next step would be to call my computer guy who is a magician! In your case I'd consider calling computer company, call Apple if you have Apple product (1800-AppleCARE), or Geek Squad at Best Buy.

Thank for your help Dale. That's about all I can do at this point. Its stranger that it saves some and don't others of the same format all for DJI drone.

One thing to check is that the card is legitimate and not counterfeit. There are apps that can check it.
