truthfully the whole area needed to be thinned out as they don't do controlled burns anymore here along this section of the river and that allows a whole lot of fuel. mostly what burned is the willows and reeds. last time it did this, 10 years ago, the burned area regrew fast as its all wetland. so it should regrow fast again as well. just hoping the few cottonwood trees didn't get too scortched.Sad to see that the area burned, but having lived in SoCal for many years (not anymore) I know that if weather conditions are right, this spring may bring an abundance of wildflowers to the area like you won't see again until the right combination of fire and rain come together. Keep us posted.
Exactly. The longer between burns, the worse the fires. Good to clean it out once in a while, and the best hope for the cottonwoods or live oaks or whatever larger trees are there is to have the undergrowth thinned regularly.truthfully the whole area needed to be thinned out as they don't do controlled burns anymore here along this section of the river and that allows a whole lot of fuel. mostly what burned is the willows and reeds. last time it did this, 10 years ago, the burned area regrew fast as its all wetland. so it should regrow fast again as well. just hoping the few cottonwood trees didn't get too scortched.
