Premature signal loss

I have my Mavic Air less than a week and the furthest distance I have been able to achieve is only a couple hundred metres. I have the signal on 5.8 ghz and updated to the latest firmware.

Has anybody got any suggestions or tips to increase the range ? I don't want to return to the store.

How are your antennae set? Don't point the tips at it, signal goes through the long flat bits. After that a cheap trick is to put tin foil in a bit of an arc the arc facing away from you towards the drone so cut four slits in the foil, put it over the antennae into an arc facing away from you

Have the antennas set parallel about 45 degrees from the controller.

Go on you tube but it might help if they were set at 90 degrees, as things are I get the impression the signal is being aimed at and going into the ground?

For me, the antennas are either 90 degrees if the drone is on front of me or flat to the ground if the drone is right above me.
