pro 2 lense cover issue

In my youthful excitement I started the machine up before removing the gimbal cover, hearing the clunking gets your attention real quickly. So other than for storing or transport why is the gimbal cover on?
Oops, looks like I jumped to the wrong concussion and didn't realize yours is the Mavic Pro and I assumed it was Mavic 2 Pro, so in the memorable words of Roseanne Roseannanna Danna "never mind"
