Procedure to fly as hobbyist -Chicago

My Chicago fliers..

what is the process to fly in chicago?

I know i have to have a registration number which i do.

can one provide me with steps needed to fly legally?
i know i need to contact flight towers etc but i dont know the number.


can someone advise?

I live in Chicago. You cannot fly in Chicago with FPV legally.
You don't dial "a number" unless you intend to fly within 5 miles of an airport/helipad.
Put that registration number in the battery compartment of your Mavic

mavic just came in today and i would like to fly sometime this week.

b4 app says everywhere in chicago is within an airport or helipad.

i live exactly one mile way from midway.

FAA Facility Directory

That link has every FAA facility number. It will be for the front office but they should be able to help you out. Just be safe around airports! Have fun!!

And you can fly them at the forest preserves but only certain ones. Look online with Cook County forest preserves and they have a list.
