I will by flying a couple of days in May over a property that is near an Air Force Base. I was able to get authorization through the "FAADroneZone.com" website (and a few phone calls - the rep was very friendly and helpful). I am trying to figure out how to input that to my Air 3. When I goto the DJI website it wants to "create" a self-authorization, which I already have. I was under the impression I had to input my FAA authorization on the DJI website and then it would generate a code to inpu to the drone.

As you can tell, I am a bit lost. Any help, greatly appreciated.

As of Jan 13 2025 DJI has removed all geozones in north America.
The FAA authorization and "geofencing" are two different things. Your Drone should already fly SO as long as you cleared it with the FAA you are good.
If you will be flying so close to the base that you will be seen close to the fence line, I would call the base and let them know that you received permission from the FAA and the time you will be there. Its not at all necessary, but it could save you some grief from any perimeter patrols.

I did try to launch a few days ago before the FAA authorization, just to see if it would even let me. I had no flying planned just booted the RC2 and drone to see what it would do. I received a message on the RC2 that it was a no-go. I will be flying adjacent (about 500' away from) the base. So I applied for and did get my full authorization from the FAA (multi-page document). I have since done the applciation on the DJI website (pending).

Also when I use the new "Air Aware" or "Air Control" apps, they both tell me I need authorization to fly.

The Drone wont take off or do you just get the warning with a check box? if you get the box does it give you a checkbox to continue or does it stop and not let you start the Drone? before DJI turned them off you used to have to submit stuff to DJI I am not aware if that has changed but I ASSUMED it has. 500 ft is close enough that you need to contact the base.

You have to update the FlySafe database on your RC2 with the drone on and connected to remove GEO. Until you do, GEO is still active.

I recently did the same. I was visiting my Daughter in the Panama City area where all of my apps showed that I was barely inside the Tyndall AFB restricted area with a 100' restriction on AGL. I received approval from the FAA but they instructed me to follow strict guidelines with an attachment they sent me and that I was to contact the AFB prior to flying by giving them specific information in order to get final approval. They provided the phone number I needed to call. When I called, I explained that I had approval from the FAA and was asking for their permission to fly as well. She asked for my FAA registration number, my exact location, how high they approved for me to fly, when I wanted to fly, how long I would be flying and a description of my drone. She then told me ok, what area I was allowed to fly in and that she would be watching me. So I immediately went outside, took off and took some pics and videos for about 20 minutes which was all I really needed. I was there to help them move in and I just wanted a few shots of their home from the air and the surrounding area, She did want me to call back when I had completed my flight, which I did of course. It actually went better than I thought it would with no issues. Hopefully yours goes as well.
