A part of the blast door of the uboat bunker in Trondheim (Dora). The door was under transport when it was lost and stranded in the Lofjord.

Great video but I have to ask....where was the sub pen in relation to this piece of wreckage? It seems like a VERY strange place, at the end of a small cove, for that to be there. What was a ship doing in there?

Thank you!

This is a blastshield/door for one of the uboat docks, for one of the two ubout bunkers in Trondheim (Dora1 or Dora2) The "door" Was under transport from a mechanic shipyard to the bunker when it was lost at sea, and drifted off to where it lies tobay. This was late during the war, so they probably dident pritorty to rescue the "door".

Thanks for that.
Looking at your video and finding the spot on Google Earth, I'm still at a loss to figure out how it ended up in THAT particular spot. There are no real commercial or industrial facilities in that cove that I can see, so maybe the ship transporting it got lost in a tiny dead end cove.??
Maybe they had something there during the war that no longer exists today.

The germans had alot of industrial facilities in, and around Åsenfjorden during the war. They used the Fjord as a naval base, and many ships was stationed there, including their biggest battleship "Tirpitz". You can still see many traces from the war, but alot has also been lost to time.
