Something in the order of 10,000 write-and-erase cycles

What are, if any, signs of failure should I be seeing?

Until the card properly fails, not much.
In use, any lost cells are marked “bad" and not used.

I have found that when it comes to SD cards, you get what you pay for. Cheap and nasty is.
