Hi. This is very short. Is there anything on the DJI fly app on my phone that I have to delete before trying to connect my new DJI mini 2? As I'm having a few problems.
I fire everything up as usual. But keep getting messages in red telling me to "Connect the aircraft". It just won't connect. One strange thing is that I can roll the gimbal wheel, And the camera goes up and down. Surely this means the drone is connected. It flashes a lot of slow green lights. then after a while, the flashing turns red and flashes faster. I have no view of the camera. I have tried the hard install method of pressing the left and right buttons at the top.at the same time pressing the still camera button on the back. the handset buzzes a lot. and stops. I hold the already switched on drones on/off button, for four seconds. It too makes noises. and flashes a lot. At this time, it's supposed to be re-connected. But no. The green lights stop flashing slowly. and turn to faster red flashing. I still have no "Go fly" message come up. and still no camera view. WTF am I not doing right. Please help guys. Several nice people have told me. and I quote "It's easy. Should fire up straight from the box". My original mini last Christmas Did just that. And being a total novice. Pressed the wrong button. It flew up. And tore down my wife's Christmas decorations.
Thank guys. Please help me enjoy Christmas. Pleeeeeeeease.
Dave

Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app? Do you have the DJI Assistant 2 downloaded onto a computer? If not, download it from their website and connect your drone to it. Maybe there is something there that can help.

Keep us posted.

Hi. Thanks for replying Tony.Yes, I have uninstalled the app three times. And no I don't have the DJI assistant on my laptop. I hope it helps. As I'm beginning to wish I hadn't sold my original mini.
I managed to return the mini 2. back to where I bought it ( Argos catalog shop here in the UK). They gave me another new one. Now I'm scared to take it from the box. in case this one is the same. Even more, proving the problem is me, and not the drone. This problem wound me up so much. I got very stressed out. As I couldn't think what to do next. Having tried to fire this bloody thing up about twenty times. Are you feeling my angst, Tony? I was made to feel slightly better. As I read online that several other buyers were having the same problem. One guy for instance was at the end of his tether. And he contacted DJI's customer services. And gave the rep his reasons for his call. He told him that " It feels like there is actually something wrong with his drone. Straight away the rep basically held up his hands and confessed that DJI has had firmware difficulties. And suggested that he returned his drone back to DJI to sort the problem. He knew he had to do this. But was reluctant to do so as (in his own words)) "DJI is really fast at selling you stuff, but when it comes to having something repaired under warranty, it took ages to get it back". That's what I'm frightened of, that I might have to do the same thing. OK. Fingers crossed with the assistant. It will come out of the box tomorrow. And hopefully, it will fly "Right out of the box" Not literally of course eh.
Thanks for your help and advice. Yes, I will keep you informed.
Very kind regards Dave.
Aged 67 and three quarters. Wondering if I should be messing with stuff like this at my age...?

How’s your luck coming with the second drone? Is in the air yet? Are you gonna have a happy Christmas after all?

Age is just a number when flying drones. You’re not being asked to play goalie for Manchester City...right?

Yes, agree 100 % about the MM2, being far superior just from reading about the improvement in the Ocusync 2.0 transmission system. Not to mention all the other improvements. Just wondering what you sold your MM1 price wise?

Thanks, just curious.
The way I looked at it is the Mini 1 felt like such a junk drone after flying my Mini 2 it felt like once people knew for another $100 or even $200 they would just buy a 2 instead. The target market are those who never flew a drone ever and just want to get something to start and learn a bit. Just count your losses and be done with it was the way I saw it. Mini 2 rocks! :)

If you're able to operate the gimbal with the RC, then you have an RC to AC link.

Are you sure your app doesn't say "RC Disconnected"? If so then check your USB cable. A few people tried both ports and with the plug both ways and could only get it to work in some or only one configuration. That would suggest a bad RC or cable though.

Oh yeah, make sure the version of Fly app is at least 1.2.0. The first several versions of Fly only supported MM1, as that was the only model out that used Fly.

I would suggest you use the PC DJI “assistant” app and run firmware updates from that at first. After all of the updates install, try using the DJI Fly app then. If it shows you have an earlier install of a Mavic Mini, delete that aircraft from the Fly app and then connect the cable, turn on your RC and then turn on your aircraft.

You can't delete an an aircraft from app history short of clearing app data (just app cache might do it) or completely uninstalling the app. It doesn't matter anyway, the proper version app will recognize the controller, and then when it sees the AC, it switches to the proper view.

I still suspect an older, incompatible version of the app.
