We explore the spectacular Asturian and Cantabrian coasts, with stops at places like Luarca, the Hermitage of Santa Justa in Ubiarco and the Desfiladero de la Hermida. In the south, we will immerse ourselves in the beauty of the Cadiz Coast, with gems such as the Castle of Sancti Petri and the city of Cadiz. We visited towns full of history and tradition such as Santillana del Mar, Comillas, Potes, Peñalba de Santiago, Bulnes, Carmona and Bárcena Mayor. We marvelled at the medieval castles of Peñafiel, Montalbán, Escalona, Belmonte and Calatrava La Nueva. In Cuenca, we enjoy its emblematic hanging houses and the castle of Uclés.

We visit emblematic cities such as Toledo, Seville, Cuenca, Madrid, Ávila, Segovia, Burgos and León, and explore unique natural landscapes such as the Hoces del Río Duratón, the Tejera Negra beech forest, the Pedrosa beech forest and the Valle de los Caídos (Valley of the Fallen). We also venture through the Bierzo region in León, the Puebla de Sanabria in Zamora, the Desfiladero de la Yecla in Burgos and the stunning landscapes of Guadalajara such as Valverde de los Arroyos and Majaelrayo.

The route also takes us to the mythical city of Ronda in Malaga, with its impressive New Bridge, and to the beauty of Albarracín in Teruel, considered one of the most beautiful towns in Spain. On our way, we also discover the Castle of Peracense in Teruel, the windmills of Consuegra in Toledo, the Castle of Oropesa and the Castle of Belmonte.

We also stop in the majestic city of León, with its iconic Gothic cathedral, and explore the Caves of Valporquero, an underground site of great beauty. In Burgos, we marvelled at Puentedey, a natural enclave that looks like something out of a fairytale. We visit Burgo de Osma and Rello in Soria, two medieval jewels that stand out for their historical preservation.

We head into the mountains of Madrid, with places such as Patones de Arriba, Buitrago de Lozoya and the waterfalls of Rascafría. In the province of Segovia, we visit Maderuelo, Sepúlveda and Pedraza, three destinations with a special charm. We also make a stop at the Real Sitio de San Ildefonso and the Monastery of San Lorenzo del Escorial.

In Extremadura, we visit Garganta de Olla, Cuacos de Yuste, Guadalupe and Trujillo, all with a rich history and impressive architecture. Finally, we explored the castles of Peñafiel and La Mota in Valladolid, Calatrava La Nueva in Ciudad Real, and Alcaudete in Jaén. Thank you! 😊 Spain is an amazing country with so much to offer, from stunning beaches to vibrant cities and rich culture. I hope you get to visit soon and experience it all for yourself! If you ever need any travel tips or recommendations, feel free to ask!

Lots of history in that video. thanks for that.
Indeed, Spanish architecture is a testament to the nation's rich history and diverse cultural influences. From ancient prehistoric sites and Roman aqueducts to Islamic marvels like the Alhambra in Granada and stunning Gothic cathedrals in Burgos and Seville, the architectural heritage is remarkable. The styles span Romanesque, Renaissance, Baroque, and Modernism, featuring iconic works by Antoni Gaudí and Santiago Calatrava.

Beyond its architectural wonders, Spain is also known for its varied landscapes. The lush and green northern regions stand in stark contrast to the sunny, dry southern areas, providing a mix of verdant forests, rugged coastlines, arid plains, and sandy beaches. This geographical diversity enhances Spain's allure as a travel destination.

Some interesting facts:

  • Spain ranks as the second country globally with the highest number of UNESCO World Heritage Cities.
  • It is third in the world in terms of natural areas designated as Biosphere Reserves.
  • It boasts the most Blue Flag beaches in the entire Northern Hemisphere.

Thanks for watching and commenting!

Just watched it all. Loved it, liked and subscribed. I really like your shooting style with them few seconds of panning shots, so much better than a photo. I'm guessing you needed permission to fly in a lot of places? ie Segovia, Seville, Ronda?? I recognise some of the places and am happy to say i've visited a few. I've stayed in a few places in Asturias - Ribadesella, Llanes, Poncebos near Bulnes, and Cares. I've walked the Ruta del Cares twice which would be amazing with a drone. I've been to Santillana del Mar, and the Caves of Altamira, stayed in Potes in the Orange B&B at 4:17, visited the bridge at 8:39 in a place called Lierganes. Had a fab 2 nighter in Leon and the picture at 11:04 is in the Hotel Real Colegiata and has the biggest beds i've ever seen. Also been to Sevilla and Ronda twice. Spain is just amazing and the people are warm and welcoming. What camera/gimbal/drone are you using? Many thanks :)

Wow, thank you so much for watching the whole video and for your kind words, like, and subscription. I'm really glad you enjoyed the shooting style; I try to capture the atmosphere of each place with those subtle panning shots to give it more life than a static photo ever could.

You’ve visited some incredible places: your travel list reads like a greatest hits of northern Spain! I’ve actually done the Ruta del Cares too, and it was absolutely stunning. But I chose to walk it without a camera, just to enjoy the experience fully without thinking about shots or gear. It’s one of those places where being present felt more important than filming. And yes, you spotted quite a few locations right!

You're absolutely right to mention drone permissions. Yes, for some of the locations in the video, I had to request specific authorizations. And in fact, as of today, you need formal permission to fly over any urban area in Spain, regardless of drone weight and altitude. On top of that, you also need explicit authorization from the property owner if you’re going to fly over or buildings. The regulations are crazy strict. Due to the new regulations, I’ve stopped flying drones.

As for the gear, the footage was captured over many years, so it’s a mix of different devices and setups. Everything from mobile phones, Osmo Mobile, Lumix S5, Mavic Pro, Mavic 2 Pro, Mini 1, Mini 2, and Mini 3. I’ve used a variety of tools depending on the time, but funnily enough, I never use a gimbal. All the stabilisation you see is either handheld or done in post except some shots done with Osmo Mobile.

Spain truly is a treasure, not only for its landscapes and architecture but also for its people, culture and food. I'm really happy to hear how many beautiful memories you’ve made here. By the way, I’m curious, out of all the places shown in the video, which ones did you enjoy the most or brought back the best memories? I'd love to know!

Thanks again for such a thoughtful comment, it really made my day!

Which places did I enjoy the most? That's very difficult to answer but i'll try. Leon had amazing nightlife, and just like most of the places i've been to I love it when you see entire families out walking very late at night and just enjoying themselves. Young children with them, baby in a pushchair, and the family dog. The Cathedral was amazing with it's huge stained glass windows. I liked Granada, Cordoba, Seville and Ronda equally, and discovered by accident that you don't need to buy a meal in Granada. Every drink is served with Tapas and you've soon had enough. We drove to the top of the Sierra Nevada to do some stargazing which was spectacular. Just north of Ronda is a place called Setenil de las Bodegas which has to be seen to be believed. Malaga was great but far too busy for my liking. Santillana del Mar is really pretty, and just a mile or two away are Las Cuevas de Altamira which is a must if you're in the area. There's a movie about the caves called 'Finding Altamira' which is very good. Ruta del Cares obviously is outstanding and far better than the Caminito del Rey which i've also walked. Potes is every bikers favourite stop, and the cable car at Fuente De is worth a trip. I stayed in an amazing place the night before Potes called Orbaneja del Castillo which looks like it belongs in a fairy tale. I could go on and on about Spain, but I think it's the people that really make it special - for me anyway. I've made lots of new friends that i'll probably never see again, but have made memories that will stay with me forever :) I've stayed overnight in over 30 places in Spain, and some multiple times. I still can't get enough of it so i'm going again at the end of August :D I'm also hoping to walk the Camino de Santiago next year after I turn 60 :)
