So my Magic PRO was delivered yesterday, a day earlier then expected. I opened it after reading the manual on the batteries, and charged two of the batteries and the charger. I had been reading through the online material for a couple of days, and knew I first needed to unfold it and set it up, as well as update firmware (it was 2 versions behind).
After 4 hours (due to reading and taking my time) I was ready to power it up and take my first flight.
I took it outside and made sure the surrounding area was safe. I started the controller, then the Mavic, then the app. DJI Go welcomed me and had told me I had to activate the drone. This is were I ran into my first problem.
I accepted the safety info, named the drone, selected the controller mode, and could not get past the screen showing me what all the controls were. I could scroll up and down, but the next button and the back button would not work. (Samsung S7 running version 6.0.1)
After shutting down and restarting the program several times and running into the same issue, I hooked it upnto my Nvidia Shield and it activated with no problem.
Back outside I went, ready for my first flight...
It flew beautifully!!! So easy to take off, control, and the video is beautiful!!! I felt like a kid in a candy store. Of course for the first flight I kept it in beginner mode, and flew low due to a little wind (2 - 4 mph). I can't believe I waited so long.
I went to a friends house and flee it around his property. I kept it in beginner mode for most of the time, but turned it off finally to get a little more distance. It still flew beautiful. I did have some interesting warnings which didn't make sense to me, but I think I know whybut was happening because it only happened when it was flying towards the west where the sun was setting.
I kept getting a message that said "breaking, return sticks to middle". The drone would emmidiatly stop. I would let go of the sticks, and then try it again and it would immediately fly off. Like I said above, if I was facing the son(which was setting and low on the horizon) it would give me the same message. If I turned away from the sun and flew sideways, or flew a way from the sun I did not get the message again. I think because of the brightbsun, the machine thought it was going to hit something.
All in all I am happy, and can not wait to fly more.
