For flying the MA2 : Do you still have use of the aircraft orientation feature? Does it stutter or have trouble handling the FPV? Do you have to sideload the fly app? Is it bright enough in the sunlight?

If I didn't just have a Ipad Mini4 lying around I would get a Mini 5, it has more ram, more powerful CPU and a 25% brighter screen at max brightness

However you'll need over a 1000nits of brightness to see a screen in strong sunlight and an Ipad Mini 5 is about 500nits

Gees, your answers are crazy. Mimi 5 works great. With the range it has, use you body for a sun shield. End of problem.

I use the Mini 4, put am looking at the Mini 5, just so I can have one dedicated solely for my drones. I love it, no problems.

I have had the Ipad mini 4 for over 3 years, used it with my Mavic P1 and now with the MA2, I have always used a shadow box with it and its been a reliable and never let me down.

I gave up on using Ipads as a monitor. I was always turning the screen away from the sun. I tried all kinds of sun shades and screen protectors, and just didn't find anything that worked, so i went with a CrystalSky screen. Expensive but no issues anymore...

1. The aircraft orientation feature works as long as the IPad Mini 4 have GPS and Compass. So you will need the one with GSM connectivity.

2. For a seamless FPV use, you'll need to have your IPad Mini 4 factory clean with the minimum amount of apps running in the background. I fully reset mine and only installed the DJI Fly and the DJI Go 4 apps also disabled cache recording. Remember, this is a 5 years old tablet and you have to save all it resources for FPV and aircraft operation.

3. Downloaded app directly from app store.

4. As others said, the display is not 1000 nits. But with a good tablet mount like the pgytech you can tilt it in an angle that gets the less amount of light from the surroundings.

I use a mini 4 with all my birds. Inexpensive on the used markets. 16Gb is adequate for designated use with flight apps (I have GO, GO 4, Fly, and Litchi on mine). Would suggest 32Gb or more for a daily use device with flight apps. WiFi only is still good enough for “Active Track” but for “Follow Me” or return to remote requires a cell (GPS) enabled device. If money is not an object, get the mini 5.

WiFi only will give location of Home (takeoff point) but can not give location of Pilot (RC) without GPS enabled device.

I mainly use it for flying only, so keep it fairly trimmed, dont run other programs and only have a few apps.
