Timelapse from Zoom Lens

Does anybody know why you can’t do a time lapse from any zoom range? I mean there’s a dedicated lens on the drone for zooming and you can’t do much with it.
 
I think trying to keep the footage smooth and focused might be a bit of an issue perhaps?

It would be a nice feature.
