@Vic Moss: any updates on what the updated NOTAM system will entail? I heard that it will be released next month (February, 2026). Thanks!
They are already online for all to see - pilots and anyone doing anything in the airspace should be reading them before flying, including all of us before we fly a drone. Here’s the link:I recently watched a YouTube breakdown video of a helicopter crash into a temporary slack line spanning across a known scenic route for helicopters.
A NOTAM was in place about the line from the nearest airport, but not from the airport the flight originated from.
Perhaps NOTAM's will be on a national data base for all to see.

Here’s the NOTAM for the slack line you mentioned, it was posted on the FAA website before that helicopter accident happened, and it shows that the line was marked with aviation flags and strobes (“LGTD”). Too bad the pilot didn’t see the NOTAM, nor the flagged line. What a terrible accident that could’ve been avoided with just a little bit of due diligence…I recently watched a YouTube breakdown video of a helicopter crash into a temporary slack line spanning across a known scenic route for helicopters.
