Like many of you..... when I try and update the firmware... Sometime when downloading it would hang.
Then almost always when it was applying the new downloaded firmware from the controller to the mavic it would either take forever.... or hang at a spot.... or take forever and hang at a spot..... sometimes (allot of the time) you had to abort the firmware.... and start over again.

So, I tried something different:
In my living room / dining room I put controler / phone as close to wifi router as possible.... then I put the mavic about 20' away.

This is the 3rd time I have done the firmware updates this way.... and all 3 times it went FAST and without incident.

For reference I have a iPhone 7

Using the Assistant 2 you connect the aircraft to the pc, and update. When it says it finished you can disconnect the aircraft. Then do the same process with the Remote Controller. Based on your thread that is not what you did, which explains why you're having issues.

Both the A/C and R/C must have the same version firmware installed.

Btw, I hope you are on top of what firmware versions to stay away from depending on the operating system.

Makes sense! WiFi speed drops off the further you are from the router.
I suggest you use a PC with a LAN connection and DJI Assistant 2 and you will never go back to WiFi. All updates take about 10 minutes and for me they have always gone smoothly.
