Dodging restricted areas and height restrictions, I managed to get some pretty decent shots of the USS Midway museum in San Diego. For fun, pull up a map and check out the area and all of the limitations.
We went to the museum on Christmas day, and then I went back a couple days later after VERY carefully studying the area to fly this "mission." I had to get three LAANC clearances as well as a GEO Unlock from DJI. Here's the map for those interested. Relevant areas highlighted.Great video. We visited the Midway with friends a couple of years ago in January. Fascinating. There was no way I was going to try to fly a drone around that area. Very well done.
Right! We went in the afternoon, and I think there were many parts of the ship that we didn't even see. I'll definitely be going back. Thanks spamgnome. A couple of decades back I told my doctor I was heading down to San Diego. He told me of the Midway and that it is a great attraction. So, off to San Diego from Vancouver Canada and yes, we visited the Midway. It took me a bit to convince my wife to tour the ship and it could be interesting…we don’t have any war ships like this in Canada.
To keep this short do you think I could get my wife off the ship after 2+ hours…NO. She was totally infatuated. It really was a cool ship. When I returned home and on my next appointment with my doctor I told him how my wife was reluctant to tour the Midway and in the end enjoyed it. My doctor laughed and said, his wife was the same. LOL
Thanks for sharing
Nice! I live in Carlsbad, North San Diego Coast. Only about 25 miles from the Midway. Been there a few times. That Ship was the turningRight! We went in the afternoon, and I think there were many parts of the ship that we didn't even see. I'll definitely be going back.
