I can’t see drones completely replacing weather balloons because of their performance at high altitudes. As the video mentioned, the balloons need to collect data at 12km (or higher) and the propellers on conventional drones just wouldn’t work effectively with the low air density at those altitudes. Additionally, the very low temperatures up there would also be a problem. The drones would probably be workable solution in the lower atmosphere but not in the upper atmosphere.
