I went to our private fishing lake field the other evening with a view to trying the automatic flying modes for the first time (I have had the drone about 3 months now). I have spent the time trying to learn as much as possible about everything - there is a LOT to take in. I got the drone hovering about 15 -18ft and about 20ft away from me, then went to the controller symbol, then to the 'active track' area, chose profile, drew the green box around the motorbike, it said go... I had to put the controller back into the pannier and set off in 1st gear, not much more than walking pace speed.... the drone just stayed put every time. The camera followed me but the drone wouldn't fly. I stopped, put the stand down, flew the drone to me without any problem... tried this 4 or 5 times and every time it would not do any of the 'active track' things I tried the follow me one, and the profile one again. It refused to, but it did spin on the spot and follow me with the camera. Then I ran out of batteries and had to give up. It took me one whole battery to find out how to get the 'active track' on screen - I can't remember it all and have ot search for it every time. It is quite frustrating.

When you find the route to a feature write it into a note book or into a note taking app on the phone. E.g. for me to check the battery charge count etc. under go4, I write

"Battery details = 3dot -> bat sym -> details"

Just stick to names you will instantly understand in a month's time. I'd guess an app might be better as you could probably alphabetically reorder that as you add entries

Thanks for that idea. I bet I have watched 300 hours of specific you toob videos on how to use it now. ALL the Mavic ones with the bloke and girl doing the presenting, each video on one particlar control...over and over I have watched them all. I have tried to write it all down too, but there is simply too much to take in. I am taking my time because of this. I can't afford to break the drone and I don't want to get into trouble either. I did fly it the other week and took a picture of my camping site with the boat, I took two pictures all weekend... flying the drone and helming the boat at the same time is impossible I have discovered. It is just too much to do at the same time.

@KingRat when it said GO did you touch the screen and get the count down before you put the controller away ?

I will make sure to look out for that next time. I will go tomorrow if it is going to be good weather and try again.
Thank you. I can try this afternoon maybe, but just walking - I only want to learn how to do it at the moment, so I can do it again another time.

I am struggling at the moment to try to do the updates.. the computer can't see the controller, but it is charging it, so I know it is connected OK. DJI chat help are trying to talk me through - hence the delay between replies on here. Back later.
Thank you guys.

hi the dji assistant 2 does not like windows 10 as i have found myself so i haven,t bothered updating controller or drone to no detriment to my flying

That is good to know. Thanks.

I will need to at some stage - and the batteries. But hopefully I can work out how to do it with the tablet it plugs into for flying. I hope the batteries can be done that way too.
