I have collected quite a few drones and crashed and burned (a few times). I learned that DJI refresh was worth it for me. Anyways, I’ve managed to keep the air3, mini 4 pro, mini 3, mini2 se and the neo. Im about to consider an upgrade to the air3. I know the 3s has its perks. I’d like to get the Mavic 3 pro, but a bit much at the moment. Mavic 3 classic is on the DJI site for $1025. I have a few remotes with screen and I have the rc2 with screen. Along with the 3 that came with air 3. I have about 200 in DJI credit. I can get the Mavic 3 classic in all black (shell color) for $850 w/basic remote, OR the air3s with basic remote for $900. I love being able to fly far/fast and enjoy the view. I like to have the protection of omnidirectional obstacle sensing cameras.

I know the main camera on the Mavic three classic isn’t #1. But the tech isn’t too far off.

Depends on what you want the drone for, if it's image quality as a photographer, go for the 4/3 of the M3, but you can wait for the M4. Else, any drone can do the job, even a drone like the Mini or the Neo is better than no drone at all.

The good thing about drones is that due to overregulation, the second hand market is plenty of drones with just a few flights. M3 hacked with the DH firmware + the RC Pro is the best way to fly IMO, the hack for the pro hasn't leaked though.

I'm currently waiting for the M4 to be released, but I also want to pick a drone with a high resolution thermal, so also waiting for the M4 enterprise / M3 enterprise advanced to choose my next drone.

I would love to have a device with thermal imaging. I have a strange feeling that when the 4 does come out, it’s going to cost an arm and a leg. But it seems, though most of these drones already cost an arm and at least a half a leg.

I scooped up the Mavic 3 classic for 813 bucks. I could’ve gotten the other remote, but I have two of them sitting around collecting dust. It would’ve been an extra 100 something dollars but probably not worth it in my case. I was also looking for something that would take the wind much better than the minis that I have, along with the NEO. I’m surprised with that little guy can do. I flew about 1000 m away at 75 m high when we didn’t have too much wind. It was still breezier than usual though. The air three that I have cuts through the wind wonderfully. But, from what I hear, the Mavic three is much better when it comes to fighting the wind. And everything else is kind of hand-in-hand at a tie. Obviously the camera is a difference between all of them, but I’m talking in regards to everything else. They do have an exchange policy, but at this point in time, I got lucky because of a coupon that was added to my account and it was only for the Mavic classic. I had told one of the customer reps that I wanted it and they put a coupon towards it, which was surprising. Right now I have a drone for pretty much everything I need to do. I love flying these drones, but the only part that’s making me think twice is the Mavic three pro. Perhaps I should’ve gone for that, but I don’t need all those cameras. I love the design on the all black stealth look to these Mavic 3’s. Hopefully made the right decision. Thank you again for your help and input. No different than an iPhone I suppose. Every year they’re gonna come out with something new. Seems as if you get rid of these, you can get a decent amount of money back that you spent.IMG_1084.jpeg

Scratch everything I said above. I quickly found the Mavic three pro for $1500 after my discount and bought that and canceled the classic just in time. They had it in the refurbished section on their website but the last two times I’ve bought refurbished, they were brand new drones. I only say that because everything looked brand new, and there was no sticker indicating that they were Refurbished. Batteries and remotes were brand new as well. Regardless, I’m looking forward to getting this Mavic three pro.

I'm thinking about adding a Avata 2 drone only to the collection. I already have a RC2 and a MC3 to use with my neo and Air 3S. It would be nice to have that style of drone. It wouldn't take that much more of an investment to go that route. Just not sure if it's right for me just yet. Still reading and watching videos. Coming from a world of sailplanes maybe I'm missing out by not flying an Avata.

I would say that you are missing out by not flying the Avata, FPV is a whole different experience and very different than flying a Mavic. I started out with a Phantom 2, then Phantom 4P, and now an Air2s and the Avata is the only one I'll take out to fly for fun, the others are for work. I built my own FPV drone to get into it but it's a steep learning curve with lots of time on the simulator. I tried a friend's Avata and eventually bought it from him when he upgraded to the Avata 2.

I was flying a neo tonight at a new spot out of town and I could see myself flying thru the tree limbs if I had a headset. That's due to arrive Friday. I'm looking forward to that for sure. I love flying drones, but lately I've been wanting something more something different. FPV. that's the ticket! I can see how this type of flying would be awesome. Your only limitation is how creative you can be with it. Well that and not getting stuck in the top of a cottonwood somewhere ;) Then it's time to get out your second drone and a fishing line🤣 Now that would be a good youtube video.
