I recently traveled to Alaska and brought the Mavic on tour - to include an afternoon on a reservation. Knowing some people's trepidation about sUAVs, I flew away from crowds and relatively high to reduce/offset noise. As I was leaving, I saw this sign and wondered whether the FAA or the tribal council controls the airspace above a reservation (obviously the council can set rules for launching from & recovering to their land).

I didn't see a prohibition against operating over a reservation in FAA Part 107, and haven't seen an exception elsewhere, but I'm ignorant whether airspace management may be part of a federal government-tribal agreement.
Anyone know?
