I apologize for this but here goes. Every time I see a sky+foreground image, the sky is invariably exposed correctly but the foreground is underexposed. With the gradient tool of Photoshop, you can open up the foreground, and make it brighter and also do other adjustments such as contrast, sharpening, etc. I copied a played around with the first image to get this.

I prefer Lightroom, bought an older version online... easier, more settings akin to Camera Raw

ACR (Adobe Camera RAW) is the same thing in both Photoshop and Lightroom. Whatever your preference and what you are felling more comfortable with.
