Where to fly near Yuma? I'm in the Fortuna Foothills area. I do not want to upset the airforce and I think I'm in their space here. So only flying in the yard and not going very high under 15 feet. 73 years old and want to learn more before I do some real flying. Would like to go somewhere where it's legal to go up higher and feel the rush of some good pictures. My main reason of buying this mini 2.

I just had a vision of you being a fugitive driving fast with the drone on the passenger seat and 10 police cars chasing you on the highway.
Sorry, sometimes my imagination is wild ?. I would like to see this in a movie ?

Actually I guess here is your chance to go travelling to unknown places...?
Retirement is a good thing if you don't set idle and do nothing. We have drove across America once. Even stayed a week on the gulf of Mexico beach in Freemont Texas. I could go on forever on what we have seen and I don't plan on stopping for 6 more years. Actually it's pretty cheap, I've saved more money in 4 years then I have my whole life. And it's always warm because we go north in summer and south in winter. Chasing the sun. The drone is a new adventure.

You must be thinking of the movie BreakingBad? Hahahaha Nothing like that. When I retired I needed to do something. I bought a motorcycle and found at my age it was fun but I still had rent motel rooms. So we traded in the bike and our van for a down payment on a used motorhome. Gave up the house we rented and hit the road. Now that worked perfect for us. Rent was $1,200.00 a month! That's a lot of gas to buy. And we have been traveling 4 years now and having a blast. And now a drone in the mix will give us better pictures of areas we find to share with friends and family. Thanks for the reply.

Sometimes I am thinking if I am able in the future to have a lifestyle as yours. I admire this lifestyle. But at present it is impossible to do it. For example if I go somewhere for two days almost I bring a suitcase with me. I could just take with me a toothbrush and a toothpaste, my wallet and phone. It seems I am like a slave of my possessions. Or what if a world war happens and I have to move immediately somewhere? It is a nightmare to decide what to pick up and run ??. You are free as bird and I am a tree with big deep roots ...

If we have a world war we are all in trouble. Yes I'm free but I have work to do to keep her running and looking good. Which keeps me busy when I need something to do. We are in Yuma now and this year it's cold! We've came here for the last 4 winters and not explored much. This year we bought a Fiat 500 to tow behind us so we can do a lot more. But I want to fly this mini 2 and take pictures. I just don't know where to go around here! Spring will get us moving this year Yellowstone again I'm thinking and through Moab on our way north. Then maybe Montana. All good places to fly a drone and take pictures. Plus it keeps the wife excited to travel. Then Washington State to see friends, Oregon and California to see our kids. Then Moab for fall weather then Yuma again. Last year I drove to Maine that was a lot of fun. Took months to cross America, but we were in no hurry, we wanted to see as much as we could so I took backroads the whole time.?

So there is no place to practice flying a drone in or near Yuma?
I am using the Android app "airmap".
I guess a compination of Google maps and airmap could help you to give an idea ?
