I read with intruige the posts where pilots have go into difficulty and have lost their mavic due to insufficient height when RTH has kicked in. In many cases, if the height was higher, it would have resulted in the mavic being safely recovered. personally, i look at where i am going to fly...

I went with Trackimo - got a good deal via eBay for a new inactivated unit. Works a treat and very easy to use. Fit mine to my Mavic with the bracket sold by this chap... The video shows the RV16 but he does one for the Trackimo too Took 4 days to arrive... clips on/off in seconds and...

is there no way your cellular provider can update you to allow teathering?

I power off the mavic then, contorller then phone/tablet. Mostly comes from my RC Heli/Planes days. That was always the way to do it.

I picked up a mini 2 for a good price, worked like a charm so far on my mavic. mini 4's were a bit out of my price range at the time or i would have gone for that and future proofed myself a bit more. But, i am happy with what my 2 can do... so dont rule it out!

Doing a fair amount of reading, one thing which is recommended is turning off the auto record function. As i understand it, when its turned on, recording will automatically start when you take off and stop when you land. I'm going to give this a try as it seems to work for others...
