The sensor in a 35mm camera is 36mm wide but the 1" sensor in the M2P is 1/2" wide. In HQ mode the sensor area used is 3/8" x 1/4", not even close to 1".

The M2P camera housing is an inch and a quarter wide and only 3/8" is being used for HQ video so the box is not as tiny as it might seem.
