Alabama Gulf Coast

Good morning-
This is a good place for flying drones- lots of very interesting wildlife and water to see, and except for military bases and other obvious "no fly zones" pretty wide open for drone flying.

The Causeway is a great place to fly and see, and Dauphin Island is also a cool place for flying.

I've had absolutely no problems with anyone giving me trouble for drone flying in over four years of flying here.

Good flying to you- let us know what you see- Ed

Hi.
Yes I've tried my hand on daughin island a time or two. The causeway was cool. As long as you stay 100 ft from battleship you can view it as well.

There is one spot I wanted to fly over but was hesitant of the area. It's an old abandoned resort that was never finished on the east end of the causeway.

Tizlor- it seems I just got back from eating lunch out at the Causeway- good food for sure.

I've gotten shots of gators, commercial fishermen pulling crab traps on the bay, lots of different birds, and in winter when the water in the bay is low, you can spot several old dead sailing ships which were pulled up the creeks and left there to die- interesting things.
I've flown around the battleship, too. Just launch from the side of the road on the Causeway and there's no problem. good talking with you- Ed

Bay minette and I just started in the hobby this year. I have a mini 2 se and just recently bought a air 2s which is a incredible drone. Trying to find some cool places to fly. I've thought of going down I believe it's near Summerdale and that area and doing the Bama Stonehenge and the lady in the water and the dinosaurs in the woods. Think that would make fkr some great footage

Sounds interesting…
I’d add USS Alabama at Battleship Park on the causeway - wat hour for the string of pearl/lights from bow to stern of the ship…. Beginning at 0:30 in the video below:

Further up Mobile River, there are some interesting and dated wharfs and fading/rusted warehouses towards the Cochran bridge that may make for some interesting flight videos/photos.

Since the Gulf Coast is close, try some over water shots - early in the mornings or late evenings may be best for less crowds and calmer weather conditions:

Good afternoon to all-
Tank 268- there are lots of places around Bay Minette to fly a drone. I've been flying my Mini 2 drones around Bay Minette for a couple of years and I've seen a number of neat things from above. I like to fly over the Delta rivers- either from the Causeway park or on upriver at the boat landings. of course, Dauphin Island is a really cool place to send a drone up- even got some shots that I used in magazine articles from the Dauphin Island area.
I live out on the Old Pensacola Highway, and I fly long range over the woods and wild country there.

you all keep well and stay safe- Ed
