Probably more useful in here as its Go4 related...
Android 9 Pie got sneakily released last night.

Ive just done some test flights on my Pixel 2 XL and all seems to work perfectly. No issues detected.

For me yes, latest MP firmware and DJI Go.
Apparently it wont work with older versions of DJI Go due to SDK changes.

I read Samsung, LG and many others won't see the Pie update for a few months. Still makes DJI obligated to fix their app

Samsung, LG and others normally run 6 - 12 months behind the latest android version (and generally only update a flagship device for a year or so if you're lucky).

They butcher the operating system so much it takes a LONG time to alter the code for a new AOSP release with their own bloatware, skins and sticky apps.

Can't see why you're blaming DJI here - their latest version of the app works on the latest version of the OS (which as it only came out 2 days ago is actually really good).

Many late model android devices work fine on Go4. Different cpu, gpu and ram specs. DJI f'd up the app after 4.2.16. That's the bottom line. Whatever they did ruined the app, and the means for previous devices to work. Up to about mid April, the app was fine on hoards of android devices. Then DJI updated the app. Hasn't worked on those devices since. That has nothing to do with the devices or Android upgrades to some devices reported to go to Oreo. Some devices never changed to Oreo, many are on Android 6 or 7. They never got updated from the factory. Almost all of those devices worked on the Go4 app up until May. Then the problems started after DJI app updates. Only newer Android devices would work on current Go4.

Many of these non Android updated devices from tablets to phones work with the APP rollback, so it makes no sense to fault the device. One app update and updates since May have rendered many devices unusable. There are many people on this, and everyone agrees DJI messed this up. This is not a device issue. It's a faulty app. Some of the app issues are also crossing into iOS devices that worked prior to app updates. It also does not explain the many devices that were rooted (no factory bloat at all) , and all those devices worked up until DJI Go4 app updates.

Yet it seems to work find on proper android devices. The "broken" ones are all devices that have heavily modified android OS and kernel.
Ultimately for now use an older app if you have a non standard android phone and for v9 you have to use the latest.
